Carnaval

Hoping to enjoy carnaval in PC. Please advise where it is best to go or where to find info on this. My American Panamanian ole high school friend advises to leave the city and go to Las Tablas or perhaps to Capira, which is closer to PC, both "mas tipico." Also, do you think I should book a place in Capira or Las Tablas- or is it too late to find a place? What days would be best to go to see what is typical - is it Tuesday Feb 17 or Wednesday ???Any thoughts or recommendations - very much appreciated! Any input about carnaval in Panama general is really appreciated.!!
