From Panama news:
PANAMA’S Metro Bus workers have proclaimed a state of alert about the impending takeover of the Metro Bus system by the government.
At a general assembly on Sunday union general secretary Antenor Guadamuz said :"We will not be provoked. We are going to fight within the framework of the law."
Drivers have no desire to strike, he said, and at this time, they have not planned to call a strike.
The union is demanding compensation above $12.6 million. Labor Minister Luis Ernesto Carle has said the government will follow the law. Two weeks ago, he delivered the proposed compensation package to the union.
The Presidential Transport Committee will meet with the union on March 2 to address their concerns.
