Do any of you know of any stores in the Panama City, Chitre, Coronado, Colón areas that stock and sell dishwashers? I'd like to buy a full-size (10 or 12 place-setting capacity) dishwasher that can be hooked up to the kitchen sink, run, and then rolled away. Both Whirlpool and GE have models with cutting-block tops for ca. $700, and either would do - or Linea Blanca, or any other standard brand if they have such a model.
I've tried all of the chains in Panama City, but have only found one store (a NOVEY) that had a dishwasher for sale, and it was a built-in, which I can't use. I can order one from the US, but the freight bill is $500+ and god only knows how much taxes and customs duties would be. My wife says that $1000 for the unit + freight is the absolute limit, and that she will make my life a living hell if I spend more than that. I'd happily pay more. I don't mind doing dishes for the two of us, but when we have several couples over, the clean-up can take the better part of a day.
Divorce would be a solution, but I don't want to go there, so skip that suggestion. And neither of us wants to hire a criada to do the cleanup. Does anyone out there know where I might be able to order and buy such a machine?
