I am a Verizon customer here in the states and am planning to move to Panama soon. I have a "dumb phone" now and would like to upgrade, but have a question I hope someone can help me with before I do. I will readily admit that I'm "technologically challenged", to say the least and am hoping that some of you that are living in there can help me with this.
I would like to upgrade to a smart phone so I can talk to the kids in the states and have access to apps like English/Spanish translator and WAZE. My question is this - is it better to subscribe to an international calling plan through Verizon, change the SIM card (whatever that is), or just wait to get settled there and buy a new plan and phone from a local Claro or Mas Movil? I would like to have a number associated with it so my kids don't need a international plan to call me.
Any input would be very much appreciated!
