Nice cool location to test drive?

So I spent a good 5+ months in Medellin Colombia and I liked it there but it was a bit to warm for me on a lot of the days. I want to check out Ecuador also but this winter I want to spend a few months in Panama.

So I have a couple questions:

1: how easy is it to get around Panama?

2: What is the coolest spot (temperature wise) with the lowest humidity?

3: How hard is it to find a place to rent?

4: Should I fly in and look for a place to rent or find a place online?

5: And most importantly, do you have any good advice for a newbie coming to Panama?
