car buying

I lost the trail...someone posted about buying a used car in P from a rental co. i.e. cars coming off a corp lease program. Suggested getting a small SUV for the ground clearance. Said they sold with some warranty. Can someone chime in? Seems like not such a bad idea to to buy like this and then go find some a place to rent for while and move on. I also need to know how I move up and down cross border with a vehicle, i.e. what docs do I need. I'm assuming that I have established P residency.
