Jubilado Discount

Telemetro this morning Alvaro Alvarado was interviewing someone from the government (could not get his name) talking about Jubilado Discounts and some of the things that are not included in the law.

If you go to a cafeteria, for a coffee and a pastry it is not to be discounted. If you go to a restaurant for a meal and add a coffee then it is to be discounted. Some cafeterias will give you the discount so just accepted it.

Full restaurants or those you sit down & you can get a full meal should give you a discount.

They were also talking about hotels. Some people said they ask first if you are jubilado because they do not want to give the discount. He said they have a "rack price" and they discount from that. If you are getting an already discounted rate then they might be within law. You will have to go to Acodeco and put your claim.
Panama Airlines have to give you your discount as they get a very high fine if not. But be careful unless you are registered on their online site as "jubilado" you will not get it. You should go to a travel agency or one of the airline kiosks in the malls.

They also talked about car repairs. Parts etc are not discounted. But the service or "mano de obra" should be discounted.

Phone gets jubilado discount but not the Cable TV.

Hope this helps. If I get a copy of the entire interview I will post the link.
