Border run

I am crossing the border with Costa Rica at Paso Canoas and return , I get different answers about requirements to re-enter Panama, I have an 0pen ticket showing a Tica bus from Panama city to San Jose but am told it has to be a return ticket to the states, I do not plan on going back to the states also I have to stay 24 hours in Costa Rica and I need to show $500 at counter, most people say it depends on the immigration person on any given day. Has anyone border hopped lately, this would be my first time, I came to Panama at Sixaola border and they did not ask for either a return ticket or $500, I am now in Boquete.
