I know that this issue has been discussed here before. In fact, I specifically remember the topic reading something like : "ear infection".
But, I can't seem to find it. Maybe it was deleted.
Anyway, here's my "problema" : I have severe pains in one ear. I'm not entirely surprised, because it's happened once before. After a vacation trip to South-East Asia. I was in Cambodia and Vietnam for 3 weeks. After a week, I began to experience severe ache within my left ear. I suspected it had something to do with my environment, so I bore the pain, until I returned home to Canada, and saw my doctor. He examined my ear, and his very first question was : "were you recently on a trip abroad?"
I was suprised, and said : Yes
He explained that the cause of my pain was the water in those countries. Which is how he guessed that I'd just recently been there. The quality of the water in SE Asia was, well "different". Which is why swimming, showering, etc in those countries is not recommended without ear-plugs, unless you actually grew up there.
The same thing happened to me again, when I visited Indonesia a year later. Despite the ear-plugs, I experienced the same pain after a week (but, I blame myself, as I'd gone deep-sea diving)
And, now, been in Panama just over a week, and it's began again. 2 days ago.
Any-who, ear-plugs or not, this time is different, as I'm here to stay, and not return to Canada in a couple of weeks.
Anyone have an idea of a reliable doctor I could go see?
(As a matter of interest, I called the John Hopkins hospital, but was asked to call again tomorrow. Hmmmm..............I really need to improve my spanish)
