Entering Panama or Belize

I have a felony on my past record and don't know if I will be allowed to enter Panama or Belize. Would like to retire in either country (I'm 64). Embassies don't answer mail about this, and I would hate to be turned around and sent back when I arrive. Any input on this would be greatly appreciated.
