Banking Info

Hola to all you lovely folks out there :)

I know there've been quite a number of posts regarding advice/tips on "Banks/Banking" in Panama.

I'm not trying to spam this forum. My question is rather specific.

I've been in Panama since last October; moved here from Brisbane, Australia. Currently living in David with my spouse.

We both love it here. After 3 months, we've decided that Panama is indeed for us. We want to plant roots here.

Our first order of business is setting up bank accounts. As I said earlier, we've gone through all the other posts relating to this issue. Our inquiry is for those of you who have accounts in any of these two banks : Banistmo, and Federation.

(1) Banistmo : We know the requirements for setting up an account here. What we'd like to know is (for those of you who've been banking with them : what's your impression? How is Banistmo, as a bank? Are you happy/satisfied? Any problems? What advice or warning would you give to anyone who plans to open an account with them?

(2) Federation Bank.

There've been quite a few posts on this bank. After reading through, I would like to know more about them. My question is for any of you who've opened an account with them --- what is the service like? The high interest rates which they promise on Savings seem a bit........mmm.........."interesting". I tried to gather as much info as possible, but they don't have a website. What kind of bank is it? Is it an offshore thing?

Cheers in advance for your replies :)
