Rental Car

My wife and I will be visiting Panama for 2 weeks starting the end of May. We fly into PC and then will visit the Pedasi and Coronado areas so will be renting a car. I have read horror stories with car rentals and insurance required. Sounds like the car rental companies pretty much try to force you into buying their insurance at super high rates.

Does anyone have recommendations on 1) Car rental companies that that you fairly 2) what insurance is actually required?
