First Steps

I am a 68 year old retired US citizen. I started considering migrating to Panama over a year ago but the political environment here has increased my sense of urgency. I purchased Rosetta Stone Spanish lessons but lost motivation. I live on a SS check of $2,000 monthly. I would like to live in a beach community but my needs are modest. I currently live in a 600 sq. ft. apt. and could do with less. Internet is a must but I guess that is not a problem in most areas. I have no idea where to begin. I am willing to travel to Panama but don't have the slightest idea of what my agenda should be. Some basic advice to get started would be appreciated because right now it seems like an insurmountable task. Thanking you in advance.
