Hi; I have an investment property in Panama City which has been rented to an American for the last year or so. He has always been problematic with his rent, however now he has not paid January, February, March. His last cheque bounced.
My property manager says there is nothing we can do, other than provide an eviction notice.
As he was two month overdue, he said he has withdrawn the building access to the guy and is still chasing him for rent (states that the renter is still saying he will pay, and that h is in a hotel until he can get the finances).
Has anyone been in this situation before with a bad renter? I know he can loose the security deposit, however I want the money I am owed, and additionally, I want to make it difficult for him to rent again (legally). I was told there is no agency in Panama where problem renters can be registered and no action other than employing a no doubt costly lawyer to try and recoup costs (when the guy could just leave country anyway).
Thanks for any advice that you may have.
