Health Cost

I've read many articles on the cost of living in Panama but very little is said about the actual cost of having health coverage similar to US. From what I have found the everyday care one would need is quite affordable. However hospitalization and out patient care is very high and not affordable to anyone but the very well off. No one can retire here from the US under a limited budget has many have insisted they can do. Without health insurance yes. I would love to have someone prove me wrong.
