I'm living in Panama for several months and need to leave the country to renew my driving privileges in early June. I'm staying just outside of La Chorrera and plan to take the bus up to Costa Rica. I'm housesitting here and have been using the owner's car and so have never used the bus system in Panama.
My plan is to take a bus from the little village I'm staying in to El Espino, which is on the Interamericana a few kms west of La Chorrera. But from there I'm not sure of the best way to proceed.
I've read that there are hourly (?) express buses between Panama City and David, but that they only stop in Santiago. I know that I could catch a bus into Panama City and then catch one of these buses, but that would mean backtracking and taking at least 2 or 3 hours to get me back to where I started in El Espino (but at least I'd be on an express bus then).
So what I'm trying to find out is if there are any express-like buses leaving from La Chorrera to Santiago or David (by this I mean any bus that isn't stopping to pick-up/drop-off every 50 metres).
Anyways, I'd appreciate any info on buses on this route.
Thanks
