David - buses and cheap hotels?

I have to do my first border run up to Costa Rica in a few weeks to renew my 90 days driving, and it looks like I'll be spending my first night in David. As I've never been up that way before, I've got a few questions I'm hoping some of you might be able to answer.

1) Is there only one main bus station in David? I'll be catching a bus from La Chorrera (possibly changing in Santiago), and hope to catch a bus the next morning to the border at Paso Canoas. Do these buses use the same building?

2) I probably won't be getting in until at least 6 or 7 at night. Is the area around the bus station reasonably safe?

3) Any cheap hotel recommendations close to the bus station? I just want something reasonably clean and quiet (private room, no dorms, but shared bathroom is fine).

Thanks
