Hongos

My papaya trees and avacado trees have hongos; can't fumigate too close to my mackaws and other birds; so far I've been told a rotten onion, hot chilies and now a small amount of tobacco. Has any one tries these local remedies? The papaya s used only for the birds. Sheila
