We are attempting to get the documents together here in the U.S. so that we qualify for the Tourist Pensionado Visa. We have visited Panama four times in the past and we love the country.
We have contacted an attorney in Panama City to help us with the Visa process, but from what I am reading on this site, his fees are way out of line. He has quoted us (my wife and I) an "all in" price of $3700.00 for the both of us.
Also, our target date for moving to Panama is November 2016. We are trying to get our documents together for the Visa, but we are having issues with Social Security. Our local office just printed out some paperwork that states how much I receive but it does not state that it is for "life". Can someone from the U.S. give us some direction? Do we need to call Social Security to obtain a letter on SSA letterhead stating that my Social Security amount is in effect until I die? We live in Indiana and maybe this problem is unique to the Midwest....I don't know.... Help!!!
