I used quite a few taxis and Ubers in Panama City this past week. Here's my take. If you know the city well, know what trips should cost and speak Spanish well, taxis seem to be a bit cheaper (particularly during a rush) and are prevalent. For newbies like myself, Uber is the great equalizer. I could plug in exactly where I wanted to go and know exactly what it cost. You could get by with little to no Spanish. I am a big fan.
