Pregnant in Panama

Hi!
I've recently found out I'm pregnant. While this is very planned and very excited, it happened much quicker than expected, so my plans aren't yet in place: I don't have private insurance for birth services in Panama (I know, silly) and my husband hasn't yet relocated here, and won't for quite a while. I am so unprepared, so just wanted to put a broad question to you all: Can you share your experiences, offer advice or help me get started thinking? Any advice is welcome. Specific things I am thinking about are the level of care in panama, recommended doctors, what differences I might experience - (I'm Australian but have lived abroad in 3rd world countries for many years - Panama is the most developed by far), whether you would recommend giving birth in a different country - I am pretty flexible - My husband is a US citizen, I have an EU passport as well as an Australian one..... I guess anything you have to share! Thanks!
