OK, I have been watching this site and reading all I can, both positive and negative, about retiring to Panama. I made my trip and spent 3 weeks in Boqueté, and plan to go back this year. I see a lot of information about how great Panama is.
I know mail service does not exist as we know it in the US. Power fluctuations happen, and we experienced a short blackout. Schedules, well they don't exist. Many products are not available. Work is not an option. Spanish is required. You have to learn the Panamanian way of doing things. Complete lack of road signs (except in Boqueté). Needing to go to at least David for some things. The possibility of Chinese inflence. I know this is not the USA south.
All that said, I an looking to retire in late 2020, and Panama looks to be a place I could truly fall in love with. I have a Panamanian flag in my office to remind me of my goal. My question to the expats of Panama is - What do you miss the most?
