From a friend from school days in the old Canal Zone, he retired in the states & moved back to Panama over 10 years ago, FYI:

-----horrible "tranques" (vehicle traffic jams). From 6:30 - 8:30 AM, and then again from 3:00 - 7:30 PM, this place is at a "stand still!" Not only the former zone, but anywhere in the city and the road to Chorrera! People have left Panama because of the tranques!!
