A friend is an associate for Keller Williams in Panama. Today, she got an email from the company saying that ALL associates who do not have a work permit will no longer be able to work with Keller Williams. It was actually their policy all along but they were kind of lax on letting in just about anyone when they first opened last year - even pensionados who are never allowed to work in Panama.
Luckily, my friend has her work permit and is legal.
But apparently a lot of other Keller Wiliams and other real estate sales people are not legal. Some do not even have a residency Visa.
If you sell real estate or any product or service in Panama, you need a work permit and you cannot get the work permit until you have a permanent residency Visa.
The real estate commission is really cracking down on illegal workers. It's a good thing!
