Hello everybody:
Please, I need some words of wisdom. I was born and raised in Panama but after almost 20 years living overseas, I tried moving back to Panama and spent 2017 with my sons (13 and 25 yo) in a house we rented in Chorrera. My family was thrilled to have us back but my teenage son had a hard time, especially since he doesn't speak Spanish.
We didn't have any contact with Americans in Panama, and I am wondering if that's where I went wrong. We really felt out of place. I am not sure if we should give it another try.
We're a homeschooling family. We went to many places but didn't find any families with children but truly, we mostly focused on connecting with my relatives, which I hadn't seen in forever.
Also, I felt guilty because the ex-husband lives Stateside but truly he makes no effort to see my son and never calls. Divorce was finalized in 2013 so I think I waited long enough for him to come around.
I truly appreciate any insights that anyone can share. I enjoy reading how so many of you enjoy my beautiful native land and I know it's far from perfect. I hope I didn't share too much.
Also, I'd love to help anyone since I an fully bilingual :)
Thank you!
