Has anybody seen lye for sale? It was called "Soda caustica" in Chile, and readily available for clearing clogged drain pipes.
We want it for making soap.
But I found it more effective for clearing drains than that horrible draino crap you can buy for outrageous prices. Especially when followed by a dose of muriatic acid. It's a 1-2 punch that really clears material, and then when the acid finds the lye they combine together to make simple salt, so you don't fill the sewer with horrible chemicals.
