Maintenance of PR status

Question - Various parties, including an attorney experienced in immigration matters have recently indicated that the visitation to Panama every 2 years to maintain PR status for expats is not necessary and untrue. And accordingly, there is no government reference source that contains that stipulation.

However, the law firm I retained to get my cedula states that by law, that I do have to return every two (2) years to maintain status.
