arguing with officials

just looking for affirmation . a friend of mine just went to Panama and brought their dog. arrived on Sunday and election day. consequently had problems. now they have been stating their disagreement with the procedure with customs officials in writing. got a reply that was not what they expected. now they are going to send back a message saying how wrong the system is and it needs to be corrected. I told them to let it go and enjoy their trip. they said we are who we are and we will do what we think is correct. I said stop arguing . forget about it. question is. am I wrong????
