Dear all,
May I propose you to measure the quality of your connection to the Internet, so that we all get an idea of what is available at different locations of Panama? Of course, any measure will depend on more factors than your city, like your plan or your exact location in the city. Still, it should be instructive.
I propose that those in Panama run the well known, quick and accurate Speedtest from
https://www.speedtest.net/
and report the city or town where they live, the ping and the up/down speeds. Please do not skip the ping (or latency) as it is more important than many people think. Optional, additional information could be: your internet provider, your plan and its price, the link to the results, whether you used wifi or Ethernet. Obviously, it is better to pause any download, upload, video streaming, etc.
During my stay in Panama, I could run the test at different locations, but in hotels or hostels, hence not in the best conditions. I think that 3 of those tests may have some meaning:
Panama City
Using Ethernet, ping = 7 ms, download = 73 Mbps, upload = 10 Mbps, Cable Onda (at hotel Milan)
David
Using wifi, ping = 59 ms, download = 20 Mbps, upload = 2.75 Mbps (at hotel Alcala)
Boquete
Using wifi, ping = 59 ms, download = 14.8 Mbps, upload = 2.73 Mbps (at hostel Valle de Las Flores), Cable Onda
Thanks for your inputs!
