House Sitting

My wife and I enjoy seeing new places and have heard some about the possibility of house/pet sitting. I have not looked into this much yet but wonder if some here might have some suggestions for us.

So far from the brief looking I have done many of the listings are for a much longer time period than we can be away from our jobs in the USA.

How would we go about finding a house sitting opportunity that would best fit our time frame?

We would consider doing this in several countries but at this point Panama, Mexico, Colombia and Ecuador are of most interest. Thanks for any tips you can provide!
