need help with 2007 Durango

About 6 years ago I shipped a 2007 8 cylinder Durango to my friend in Panama City. She loves the car as she has several children and nieces with her

The car needs an engine and the mechanic quoted a price of about $4000 - I don't know if that is for a rebuilt engine or a new one.

Would appreciate any advice or suggestions . She was offered 1000
for the car as is. thanks
