I want to touch on a pitfall that I see lots of expats fall into with regards to learning a new language. And that is the focus on trying to be perfect. I think that we as adults can be preoccupied with not making mistakes and with trying to learn "correct" Spanish. We don't want to look stupid. And every tutor I have hired has gone into too much detail, and focused too much on being perfect. I think that is fine if you have the passion for learning a language and you want to devote tons of the time. But most of us just want to survive! As for learning tools, maybe others here can recommend survival Spanish aids. I can't-I have used many different tools, and figured out a lot by myself. Its taken a lot of time, desire, and patience. Way more than I thought it would.
