Deposits in Panama Banks

Has any one faced any issues transferring funds from US as Banistmo refused to deposit my own US check into my savings account during my last visit. I wrote them few e mails and have not heard back from them yet. It seems Banks in Panama are now wants to know how the fund originated and source etc . Any one has any idea May be I need to open account in another bank
