Panama ranks 64 out of 100 countries in the world in mastery of basic English, according to a survey carried out by Education First, and 15 out of 19 Latin American countries. The metropolitan area ranked “low,” and “very low” elsewhere in the country. This ranking hasn’t changed since 2011, when the survey first took place.
So don’t believe the hype about everybody in Panama speaking English, and start perfecting your Spanish language skills if you don’t already speak the language.
