Bringing book collection to Panama: Mold Problem?

I have narrowed down my books that I want to bring to Panama to ones that have lots of personal meaning, mostly for research and reference. I also have some comic books. I have been told that mold will attack any books that I bring with me, but in some of the Videos from expats in Panama and during my visit to that country I have seen that expats have brought books with them.

What experience have expats in Panama had with books (and comic books) they brought with them? Would bookcases with doors help? Perhaps with a small de-humidifier inside?
