I would like to know what are your views on freedom in Panama. Please try to give an objective picture, with facts, with a cold description of the reality and without personal opinions on this reality, in order to avoid political debates!
Freedom can cover different aspects like individual freedom in daily life, freedom of speech in public, freedom at a more collective level (associations, politics, etc.). I am more interested in local, or even individual freedom, in a variety of fields: home construction, own land management, level of restrictions in public areas, etc.
I have read a few times that people felt more free than in the US, because so many rules had been added in the US with time. I am pretty sure that Europe, where I live, has even more rules than the US. But at present time, it seems to me that the Panamanian government has put in place a tighter lockdown than any country in Europe. Not to mention the arrests of those who break the lockdown (with photos, sometimes videos released publicly). I was thinking that maybe there is more individual freedom, but at the same time the government can demand more from the individuals because they are so patriotic. I hope you can provide some analysis, again, without political judgement.
