Safety in La Concepción?

Panama's Top 10 Retirement Destinations' I looked at those place, he suggested.

I was actually ready to rent in Santiago, but it's really darn hot (not as bad ac Chiriqui, but still ... ).

I am not so into living on the beach. Having the beach in walking distance is to me not worth the higher cost of living.

La Concepción seemed just perfect. Rental can be from 200 for a 2BR house. Not yet overrun by people like me BUT there are some. I am way behind in my spanish since it is close enough to Italian (which I kinda have some fluency in) to always kick in when I try to speak. So when I talk now, neither Italians NOR Spaniards understand me.

Example:
(Italian) Due biglietti del treno per Vienna, per favore. -VS- Dos boletos de tren a viena por favor. !!

Aaaargh!

I will have to live in the country to expatriate my Italian ganglia!

So, I will need some english, german speaking people in the neighborhood to help me in my quest to integrate into my new home.

And 'La Concepción' seems to be a good place.

When I told my lawyer, he warned me that this place may be not safe. I am a big boy, but would like to enjoy my next years without getting myself into too much trouble, Especially since I learned, that in case of trouble, the cops favor to be on the natives' side rather than the Gringos.

Does anyone logged in here live or has lived in or close to La Concepción and has an opinion about living there?
