Calling all posters!
Can you please share your knowledge regarding Panamanian emergency services and select infrastructure maintenance and service.
Police, fire department, ambulance:
Do you find these services adequate, responsive and professional?
Also, what is the Caldera checkpoint all about? Are there other checkpoints around the country, if so, what is their primary purpose?
On Google Earth photos, I have seen pics of fire stations housing .fire trucks but could not find fire hydrants on the road side. Also, given the lack of a continuous steady water supply, how effective is the fire department in extinguishing a burning building?
Are ambulances staffed with qualified paramedics?
Infrastructure:
I understand some roads were washed out recently in the Boquete area. Were these washouts repaired in a timely manner? Does Panama have a dedicated roads maintenance department?
The same question can be asked about the power grid and the ability to have it repaired in a timely manner.
Garbage and sanitation:
It is difficult to find water and sewer treatment facilities on Google Earth. I trust they do exist or are these lacking in Panama?
Is there roadside garbage pickup or are you responsible to take your trash to a local landfill? If I was living in a rural area could I burn my trash in a burning barrel?
Thanks. I look forward to the responses.
Kel
