People who expect to be absent from the USA for a significant period of time will need to make arrangements for their mail.
During a lifetime of global exploration I have tried various things, including entrusting the chore to friends, with mixed results.
I strongly recommend US Global Mail.com.
I have been using this service for about 30 years and it has always been 100% successful in getting my mail to me no matter where I was, and I have been to some extremely odd places.
The company was designed for expatriates and world travelers and understands the complications.
They will give you a street address in Houston, Texas that you can use on your tax returns, pension statements, or whatever and thereby avoid being robbed by states in which you no longer reside.
They will forward selected materials to you physically, to your designated agent, or open and scan if you want.
You can also use them as a business address for a corporation or LLC.
Best of all, if you use my referral link we can both get a free month. ;-)
