This morning my wife found a $94.55 charge to her debit card on a US bank that she didn’t make.
The charge was for “Luryx, David.” We were not in David yesterday nor did she use her card for anything else.
This has been a problem in the past as well. Last year someone used my credit card numbers to charge several internet purchases including Netflix subscriptions and google pay items.
I would guess that people in stores or restaurants are stealing credit card numbers and using them for online purchases.
Please note that you have some consumer protection when you use credit cards but much less with debit cards.
It looks like the safest way to go is to pay cash—
To make things even more annoying, the bank wants us to call them and that appears to be impossible thanks to OUR CRAPPY iPHONES!
Apparently the phones have decided that since we are in Panama we have no business trying to dial numbers in the USA. I even had an expert at the Tigo store look at the phone and try to call the bank for me.
Recording says the number is out of service. I know very well that it’s not.
