Overstaying your visa -New measures

The National Migration Service (SNM) has announced new procedures for those who have overstayed their visa.
Seven days prior to your scheduled departure you must go to Immigration offices at Avenida Ricardo J Alfaro in Panama City to pay your fine. You can no longer pay at Tocumen airport.
You will be denied re-entry into Panama for 5 years if you’ve overstayed your visa, even if you pay the fine. However, if you have children or a spouse who are Panamanian citizens, you can re-enter, but will be flagged in the SNM system.
Panama is seriously cracking down on “permanent tourists” and illegal immigrants.
Good luck to all who have overstayed their tourist visa!
