Unvaccinated travelers who have been in or who transited through high-risk countries (United Kingdom, India, South Africa, or any country in South America) are now required to present a negative COVID-19 test (PCR or Antigen) within 72 hours prior to traveling to Panama or be tested at the Tocumen airport at their expense. Even if they test negative, they are still required to quarantine for 72 hours and be tested again with negative results to end the quarantine. There are special hotels that have been designated as quarantine hotels, and must be paid for by the travelers themselves. Vaccinated travelers must have proof of their full vaccinations with them. Although the United States was not mentioned in the above notification from the USembassy.gov website, friends from the US who were to arrive on September 6th were just informed of this ruling, and have rescheduled their trip to a later date, as they were told by Panamanian authorities that the US is considered a high risk country. Friends coming from Canada at the same time were told that Canada was not considered a high risk country. Canada's Prime Minister recently announced that 64% of Canadians have now received their full vaccines. That number has recently been updated to 76.63%. The Ipsos poll conducted exclusively for Global News in Canada found that 74 per cent of those polled were in agreement that there should be mandatory vaccines for nurses, servers and other public-facing workers. The new thing is that vaccine selfies have become popular.
