Retiring in Panama

Hi

My wife and I are US citizens. We are retirees with a solid pensions thanks to our New York State careers (social worker and attorney). After having worked with a wonderful Panamanian women for several years and after hearing her extol the virtues of her native country, we decided that retiring their sounded very attractive.

Of course, we have also been on the internet doing our research. The bizarre political climate in the US has hastened our desire to move forward with our intentions to leave the US.

What we would really appreciate is the advice of a person or persons (expats) living in Panama as to the best approach to meet our goal.

We want to spend two weeks this winter exploring where we may want to live. We want to spend some time in Panama City. We would also like to explore other living options. Maybe the expat community of Boquete?

Any responses providing advice on how to go about exploring those opportunities would be greatly appreciated. It would also be wonderful to be able to actually talk to some expats. Thanks so much for your help. Rick and Fran
