Advice for mid 2022

I am in Boquete, have been a month. Flew in late December after a few months in Costa Rica.

My quick question is this. Having retired in the States in September, I had already planned CR for three months then Panama and Boquete for six. However, I am so wonderfully grateful for my time here. I was disappointed that since 2017 a one month exit from Panama is necessary or to re-entry. When researching in 2021 in LA, I read old material (sadly) and thought I could take a bus from Boquete, through David to SE CR, spend a day and re-enter Panama.

I have time to figure this out. But any advice from others who have lived my plight is appreciated.

I did read you can stay past the 180 days and pay a fine of $50 a month. But if I did that, would it affect eventual application for residency?

Thank you in advance.

Steve
