one way ticket

hello, I am moving to Panama permanently this May. I have already hired an attorney in Panama. they are taking care of my residence visa. my question is simple. my visa will not be finalized until I am actually there. my lawyer says about a week. however, I only have a one way ticket and they are saying I need a round-trip ticket, even though I will not be leaving. how do I take care of this? Any help will be appreciated. Thank you,!
