We are unable to retire where we are now (San Francisco CA) because of housing cost increases, homelessness, and crime/drugs. I will have a healthy pension so my primary concern isn't cost of living as much as a better quality of life.
I am currently able walk from home to a nearby ‘village center’ with small vegetable stands, a fish market, a local grocery with a meat counter, a bakery and a few little shops and friendly neighbors. Finding a place with a walkable district like this is very important to me. I don’t expect to necessarily find the extras that come in my current big city (nails salons and florists and boutique shops are not required!) and I am not overly concerned about access to US brands or conveniences. But I will miss the charm of this district wherever I go, and wonder if anyone is sparked with an idea that you think might be appealing to me. What I love about my neighborhood in San Francisco, CA seems achievable in Panama and I would love advice on best places from those who already live there. We have a tour scheduled with Panama Relocation Tours in January, and am trying to be as prepared as possible. Thank you!
