Credit Card Options

We just moved to Panama and have opened Savings accounts at Banistmo.

We are transferring all our finances to Panama, so we want to cancel our Canadian credit cards - but to do this, we need to replace them with some kind of credit card product here in Panama that will work online for things like Netflix subscriptions and buying things online.

The only option through Banistmo is tying up $12,000 for an entire year to secure one credit card, and we're just not willing to have that much money sitting not working for us (it could be invested instead!).

Does anyone have any suggestions of what we can get?

Are there any credit card type options here in Panama that new arrivals can get who don't have a credit history here?
