Any expats from Spain?

I am considering Panama and Spain as retirement options.

I have visited Barcelona, and loved it there. I am researching Costa del Sol. The beach towns with long stretches of open air cafes along the malecon are very attractive to me. The ease of travel in Europe to visit different cities is also appealing.

Panama seems more affordable, but with fewer options for cultural travel and entertainment. I live in Mexico in Baja Norte, and the climate and water temperature are similar to Costa Del Sol. I would prefer warmer weather. I have been in the ocean 2 times in 5 years here because it is too cold for me.

I am wondering if there are any expats from Spain here who made the decision to move to Panama, and why you would choose Panama over Spain.
