Selling Plants

Hello all, my name is James. My family and I (wife and daughter) are starting to dive into the research and process of immigrating to Panama. Recently I have been trying to figure out what I am going to do for an income (my wife can work from home). Here in the states I work in the nursery business and was in hopes of starting my own, very small nursery. I am trying to figure out a way to do the same down in Panama. From research, large nurseries typically fail but I can't find anything about small nurseries.

1. I would like to collaborate with local potters and possibly sell indoor and outdoor local plants coupled with local artists' pottery. I would like to sell via farmer's markets. Is there a market for this kind of thing?

2. I wouldn't mind the idea of exporting Panamanian "houseplants" to the states. I have a very hard time finding any agricultural export laws. Can this be done? Could someone point me in a direction to clear this up?

I plan on going down there to visit soon for an extended stay. Think it would be possible to get in touch with local potters while there and possibly see what they would have in mind or be able to help out with the process? I really like the idea of working with local artists in a collaborative effort.
