Quick VPN question

HiYas!

I've followed a few past discussions on VPN use in Panamá and managed to save some very helpful info.

Now that I'm actually working on setup, I have a quick question.
It seems my Express VPN on Firestick doesn't connect independently.
Am I supposed to get a VPN compatible modem to network between my tigo modem and my devices?

I surely can't figure out how to insert the VPN activation code in the tigo modem, so I can only assume a different modem is needed.

Suggestions??
